Ataraxia is an Italian ensemble that has been
performing for many years all over Europe and Latin America.
Our concerts are inspired both by early music and contemporary
soundscapes crossing neoclassic, bohemien and atmospheric ambiances.
We utilize both acoustic and electronic instruments creating
an unusual mix of traditional and avantgarde music.
We feel to be crossroads between the Mediterranean
culture and the Celtic one, a land of meeting and struggle that
brings the physical and spiritual signs of far different experiences.
We have grown up in Medieval burgs and we carry on the 'oral
tradition' of those times like wandering bards who want to keep
alive the memory of the past in order to afford the present
and the future.
We live a concert as a sort of theatrical drama,
a modern ritual to celebrate the elemental forces. ATARAXIA
usually perform in fascinating environments like abbeys, castles,
gardens, squares, courts, palaces where magic and spiritual
energies flow copiously. Our live acts evoke arcane suggestions,
sensual atmospheres with moments of contemplation and spleen,
lunar elegies, delicate airs, epic rides and deep evocative
chants.
We create our own costumes and masks. During
our live acts, we explore and travel with our listeners in premival
kingdoms. Music allows boundless, oceanic voyages. Ancient spirits
are still speaking.
