ATARAXIA

"Kremasta Nera"

Ark Records - 2007

CD

The most recent step in Ataraxia world reaches the enchanted island of Samotracia and gathers the sounds, rituals, places of its mysterious, unknown culture. "Kremasta Nera" is a concept album composed by 14 tracks showing Samotracia's remote world where Greek mythology confounds with the Great Mother cult from Anatolia, and where colourless goddess’ faces emerge from the waves, bringing their memories that fly through the years.

Ataraxia penetrate the depth of the island going through rivers, descending falls and underground recesses expressing with their powerful music an entire world lost in the centuries that listening this album seems to unravel its secrets with songs like "The Nine Rituals", "Ochram", "Kaviria", where instruments and melodies are those typical of Eastern backgrounds. But, we also find beautiful ballads reminding Ataraxia's tradition ("Kremasta Nera", "Fengari") upon a guitar or piano texture and disquieting dark melodies, like spell-like "Song of Axieros", "Ebur", "Therma", with Francesca’s voice appearing warmer and more profound than ever.

As always, also in "Kremasta Nera" Ataraxia are able to show their refined and supreme art and ability to empathize with other times and worlds. The album is recommended not only to long-term fans of the band, but to anybody who wants to travel without moving physically but only closing their eyes and listening to music.
