Odos Eis Ouranon - La Via Verso Il Cielo

<< Back

After two very special performances of two well-known names in the Italian Neo-classical scene there was decided to put the registrations of the concert on album. The performances where held in the Church of st. Michele founded in Rovingo , Italy . Both bands held for the occasion and surroundings a totally acoustic performance where especially piano and voice where used as the centre-point on which it al revolved. The cd is presented as a digipack double-album with additional photo's, lyrics and other material of both bands. It's all brought on the market in a limited edition of 2000ex.

Ataraxia takes with "Strange lights" the first cd to their account. A female singer and classical guitar are beside the piano the focal points of the concert registration and the best way to describe the whole thing. Off course this aren't the only instruments and voice used to give this acoustic concert it's shape and wouldn't do it justice to call it just that. Ataraxia took songs of there albums and transformed them into acoustic versions. With acoustic versions of song one can go two ways, it can be very dreary and totally boring but on the other hand the songs can be transformed in to something which takes them to greater heights, even greater heights the original already possessed. With the performance of Ataraxia there can only be one conclusion, they create songs that brings the originals towards heights never seen before. The songs are bought which such beauty that it's a journey waiting to happen when you listen to the music. The original song where of a classical beauty, but the acoustic versions give them even more depth. The musicians help enhance this feeling with there skills on the instruments they play and the singer has a great voice. There is just one point of criticism to be found, the accent of the singer makes it hard to understand what the English lyrics are about, but when shes sing in Italian the problem melts away like snow in the sun. Let's not forget this is a live-registration of a concert, but the production-quality is of such a high standard I couldn't hear it actually is a live-performance. Something which enhances the joy to listen. This album is clearly a great addition to the discography of Ataraxia and for people who don't know their music a good way to get to know them.
