First of all let me explain you that Ataraxia has nothing to do with Metal, not even Rock. The problem is that I can't really say what kind of music this is, there are so many sound styles mixed up that the result is something pretty impossible to define.
Anyway, I'll try and describe what I'm hearing, but no matter how hard I try, my words will still be far, far away from the original and deep sounds from this band.
I could consider this as Atmospheric music, but I'd be missing many things just by saying that. This is Folk, Medieval, Opera, Gothic, Neo Classical music all mixed together, and that should give an idea of what to expect here, I think.

But what is a band like this doing here, might you ask? Well, I like good music, and Ataraxia play some damn great music, so it's more than enough to be here.
I know it must be hard for many of you to take your time and try out this band, but I know that many metal fans also like Enya and Celtic music, for example, so if that's the case, you will find in Ataraxia some of the best music ever written within the genre.
Very well crafted piano melodies with some acoustic guitars are the instruments frequently used by the Italians, and the finishing touch is the pure and angelic voice of Francesca, some of the best female vocals I've ever heard.
Sometimes I can't still believe that I'm enjoying the music so much, this is the kind of stuff that my parents would listen to and I'd probably make a little fun of them every time that happened. I guess sometimes a person hears something without listening to it, you know what I mean? It's like that famous sentence: "you look but you did not see".

"Saphir" is the latest release from Ataraxia, and it's a concept album inspired by the magical, symbolic and mystic nature of gardens of all ages, like the Arabian gardens, the gardens of Babylon or even the English romantic gardens.
These are songs about dreams and what they may come, songs about the few good things left in the world and some of the beautiful places that you can see. It's all about the freedom to dream, and the hability to picture yourself in such places while listening to the beautiful and peaceful sounds of Ataraxia.
It's hard to choose a favourite song, I think that the whole album is a journey that you need to take from the beginning until the end if you want to get the best of it, but either way, "The Gentle Sleep" and "De Pourpre et d'argent" are the ones that are able to reach my soul like none other.
If you are seeking contemplation and enlightenment, Ataraxia is definitely the band for you.
